Since 2014, I’ve taught Art Matters, a foundation level course, designed to introduce students to different art historical methods and help improve their writing and research skills. The course objectives may be met through a variety of content and instructional approaches, so I’ve experimented with course design and class assignments to better meet students’ needs and interests. Below are a sample of syllabi demonstrating different approaches (note each syllabus includes links to assignments, readings, and other class resources).
Syllabus Spring 2019 (Theme: Bodies and Sexuality)
Syllabus Fall 2016 (Objects, Institutions, Artists)
Syllabus Fall 2015 (Student-led course focused on Art History Survey Textbooks)
