On Collaboration, AHTR, and Work in the Arts: A Conversation Among Friends

This post, published in June 2019 on ArtHistoryTeachingResources.org, developed out of a conversation I had with AHTR co-founders Michelle Millar Fisher and Karen Shelby. It gave us the opportunity to catch up, to celebrate the eighth (!) anniversary of AHTR’s birth, and to reflect upon AHTR as a collaborative and community-based project that advocates for the arts and the value of art history and arts-based education. The conversation was precipitated in part by widespread attention to the Salary Transparency Spreadsheet that Michelle co-created with colleagues and friends in Spring 2019. AHTR was founded on such acts of solidarity around our love of art (history) and the academic labor of teaching, and we have come to treasure the community it provides.
